The Department of Criminal Law and Criminology at the University of Basel chaired by Prof Dr Mark Pieth has specialised in several topics of macro-criminality over the last ten years, particularly in economic crime, money laundering, organised crime, corruption, criminal liability of legal persons and terrorism. The research group conducted by Mark Pieth participates in the academic discussion about the international legal standardisation, legal assistance as well as about the national implementation. The team also works in the practical domain within the framework of international organisations, in legislation and together with the ‘Basel Institute on Governance’ on the elaboration and realisation of regulation models (including self-regulation).
